Received notice today from Ohio Department of Insurance (ODI) to be on the lookout for flood damaged vehicles.  Because of the recent hurricanes flood damaged vehicles could start entering the used car market.  The ODI suggests that you obtain a vehicle history report and have a trusted mechanic inspect the vehicle before purchasing.  Flood damaged vehicles are declared a total loss by the insurance companies and sold at salvage auctions for parts but resale is permitted if flood damage is marked on the title.  Every state does not have flood damage declaration requirement.  Ohio has instituted tat added consumer protection.  Shop at a reputable dealership and or get a full inspection prior to purchasing a used vehicle.
